Modern Abstract Art by Betty Pehme, Canadian Artist

Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Betty now works out of her studio in the village of Sechelt, a short ferry ride away, on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.

"Inspiration for imagery is abundant in this LAND BETWEEN TWO WATERS, caressed by salt air wafting in off the Pacific Ocean and gentle mists rising from the waters of the inlet. Here, bears pursue their seasonal quest for wild berries and spawning salmon, long-legged herons stalk small fish in the shallows, and high above, eagles soar on rising currents of air. My spirit is nourished here."

Pehme draws upon her experience in working with metal arts, textiles, print making, and painting while furthering the exploration of image making.  Much of her current work is within her field of special interest, Digital Printmaking, utilizing a variety of techniques and several media. She refers to these pieces as Merged Media Digital Prints. This merging of different media creates images that do not readily fall within traditional genres and simple categorization.  Betty celebrates diversity in her art.
